An Afternoon of Crafting

Image
I spent a lovely afternoon crafty with little Smem today. I started on the Christmas cards, as its nearly half-way through December and I don't have any made - oops! Smem did some serious gluing. These will hopefully be cards for the grandparents. And after her gluing she asked to do painting as well. And all the time we were listening to Christmas FM!

Quick Wedding Card

Image
We were at a wedding for one of my friends at the weekend so I had to make a little card real quickly on Friday night. This was super quick and simple to make. I double stamped a bride and groom image on a rectangle of cream card - light blue at the back, then black over it to give it a shadow effect. Stuck the cream card onto a slightly bigger rectangle of light blue card and then stuck that onto a larger rectangle of purple/blue card. I left a large chunk of the darker card free on one side and stuck a flower to the bottom. Super simple, super quick but I think it looks really cute.

My Living Room has been invaded!

By the Christmas card-making fairy! And here is the final card. Kinda simple, but it needs to be as I have to make around 70 or so.

Summery Cards

I finished my latest knitting pattern last night. Yay! I'm really proud of this one 'cause it looks really well - if I do say so myself. Have to go on a photo session today (and the sun is out to help!), so watch out for a pattern giveaway this weekend. During the day I've been making cards. I'm trying to build up a backlog so that I've some ready to give to Deirdre whenever she sells out, rather than having to make a load of cards in a hurry, as then they can turn out quite crappy! It's also a handly project to do during the day. I get loads done when Smem goes for her nap. And I can even get a little bit done when she's awake if she's happy playing with other things. You can just stop and start quite easily, without making a mess.

Pretty Cards

Deirdre from Quack and Dirk sent me a message today to order more cards for her shop. The ones I had given her have gone down a storm. So, while Smem went for a super long nap this afternoon, I got 14 cards made. I made a few different types and quite like the ones I made. I have old ones in a box upstairs that I could give her but I don't like them anymore! I also have an order to make one for a lady who wants to give one to her friend who had twins so that should be fun. I've pattern work to do this evening so I think I'll tackle that while telly watching tomorrow evening.

Elephant Card

Image
I made this little card for the party we went to today, to match the toy elephant. Its so cute I wanted to share it. I used a pre-made card 14.5cm x 10.5cm. I cut out the elephant shape, making sure that the dotted line was place at the fold in the card! I cut the ear from contrast/patterned paper. This was folded on the dotted line, and the narrow part glued to the body. Super quick and easy to do!
